Differences Between Aimpoint H2 and T2
As you can tell from the chart above, there are a few key differences between the Aimpoint H2 and the Aimpoint T2.
One of the most basic differences is that the T2 is night vision compatible and the H2 is not. Each red dot has 12 brightness settings, but the T2 has four night vision settings and eight daylight settings, while the H2 has 12 daylight settings.
Another basic difference is that the T2 has a 2 MOA red dot. The H2, on the other hand, comes with a 2, 4, or 6 MOA dot.
There are also a couple of smaller differences. The T2 is more waterproof compared to the H2 and also has slightly better light transmission.

Overview: Aimpoint H2
Aimpoint recommends the H2 for hunting, sport shooting, home defense, or as a secondary optic.
As we’ve already covered, the Aimpoint H2 comes in 2 MOA, 4 MOA, and 6 MOA dot options, depending on which model you get. Other than the different dot sizes, the three different models are identical.
The H2 has 12 daylight brightness settings. It uses a CR2032 battery, which provides up to 50,000 hours battery life at setting 8.
It measures 3.1 inches long, 1.8 inches wide, and 1.9 inches tall. The height of the optical axis is 0.8 inches. The sight itself, without a mount, weighs 3.3 ounces. It can be bought with a few different mounts, which affects the overall weight.
In addition to whichever mount you choose, the sight comes with a battery, transparent flip-up lens covers, and an Aimpoint tool.

The advanced optical lenses are multicoated for 60% light transmission.
In addition to the optical advantages, this Aimpoint sight is also very durable. It’s got a reinforced high-strength aluminum housing with a matte black anodized finish, plus reinforced turrets. It’s waterproof up to 15 feet, shockproof, and resistant to extreme weather.

As for the Aimpoint T2, Aimpoint recommends the sight for sport shooting, home defense, law enforcement, or as a secondary optic.
It’s only available with a 2 MOA dot, but is available with your choice of one of several different mounts, like the H2.
Also like the H2, this sight uses a single CR2032 battery that provides up to 50,000 hours of battery life at setting 8. And speaking of settings, the T2 also has 12 brightness settings. However, the sight is compatible with night vision devices (as well as thermal devices), so four of the brightness settings are for night vision and the other eight are for daylight.
Even for daylight use, the lenses are multicoated so the sight has 70% light transmission for a bright, crisp sight picture in low light settings.

This sight is the same size as the H2, down to the exact weight, 3.3 ounces, and optical height, 0.8 inches.
It’s even more waterproof though, up to 80 feet. Besides that, it has the same reinforced turrets, high-strength aluminum housing, and semi-matte black anodized finish as the H2.
It comes with a mount, a CR 2032 battery, and an Aimpoint tool. It also comes with flip-up lens covers, with a transparent rear lens cover and a solid front lens cover.

Now let’s take a look at the differences between the Aimpoint H2 and the Aimpoint T2 one feature at a time.
Dot
Both the H2 and the T2 are available with a 2 MOA red dot, but the H2 is also available in models with a 4 MOA or 6 MOA red dot.
Larger dots are generally preferred for closer range shooting because they allow for faster target acquisition but can obscure smaller, farther away targets. 2 MOA dots are better suited for longer ranges because they don’t block your view of your target.
However, remember that neither of these is a magnified optic, which limits their usable range. To extend the range of these optics, you’ll need to pair them with a magnifier. Each is compatible with the various Aimpoint magnifiers.

The T2’s front lens cover is solid, while the rear cover is transparent. This means the shooter can shoot using a “both eyes open” technique and with the lens covers closed. The H2’s front and rear lens covers are both transparent.
Light Transmission
T2 has better light transmission, with an average of 70% light transmission in the range 420 – 700 nm, as opposed to the H2’s average of 60% light transmission in that same range. This gives the T2 better low light performance, even in daylight, and a brighter sight picture.
Durability
Both red dots are equally shockproof, but the T2 has superior waterproofing. It can withstand submersion up to 80 feet, while the H2 can withstand up to 15 feet. You’re probably not planning on going swimming with either optic, though, so that difference is hardly a make or break feature for most people.
